Osasuna sack coach Caparros

Xinhua, January 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Struggling Osasuna sacked coach Joaquin Caparros on Thursday and replaced him with the club's Director of Sport, Peter Vasiljevic, who becomes the club's third coach of the season.

The experienced Caparros leaves Osasuna after losing the five league games he was in the dugout for and with the Pamplona based outfit bottom of the Primera Liga table.

His only victory came in the King's Cup at home to Granada, but Tuesday saw Osasuna beaten 3-0 at home to Eibar in the same competition.

"After a meeting held on Thursday morning, the board of directors have decided to sack Joaquin Caparros," confirmed the club on its official website.

Caparros is the seventh coach to lose his job this season and ironically Vasiljevic's debut in the dugout will be at home to Valencia on January 9th, which will be the first league game following Cesare Prandelli's resignation as Valencia boss on December 30th. Endit
