A car bomb exploded outside a courthouse on Thursday in Turkey's western city of Izmir, killing four including two attackers and one police, the governor said.

Izmir Governor Erol Ayyildiz told the state-run Anadolu Agency that a court employee, a female usher, lost her life as well in the bombing attack. (Turkey-Car Bombing)

DAMASCUS -- A car bomb went off in Syria's northwestern coastal city of Latakia on Thursday, killing 11 people and wounding 30 others, state TV reported.

The report said that a suicide car bomber detonated his vehicle near a stadium in the city of Jableh in the countryside of Latakia. (Syria-Bombing)

KABUL -- About 19 militants were killed and 16 others wounded amid military operations launched by Afghan security forces in countryside within the last 24 hours, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"The raids were conducted in 18 of 34 Afghan provinces. In one operation, the Afghan air force struck the enemies' positions, killing five Taliban militants and destroyed two vehicles in Maruf district, southern Kandahar province," the ministry said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Operations)

YANGON -- Six male miners were killed in an accident of a mine-shaft elevator in Mogok township, northeastern Myanmar, while undertaking excavation work, said the Ministry of Information.

The miners fell out of the elevator at about 6:30 a.m. local time into the mine hole of 300-feet depth in a mine operated by Mogok Pride Jewel Company as the control switch was broken. (Myanmar-Miners) Endi
