Xinhua, January 5, 2017 Adjust font size:

Slovenian authorities has confirmed a case of avian influenza, or bird flu, in Pragersko in the northeastern part of the country, announced the Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary Sector and Protection on Wednesday.

Details about the confirmed case will be revealed at a special press conference later, according to a report by the Slovenian Press Agency (STA).

Slovenian experts warned the spread of bird flu into Slovenia two weeks ago, as the disease had been detected in almost all neighbouring countries.

Slovenia recorded the first bird flu case in 2006 with the virus subtype detected as H5N1, while the current virus is H5N8. Endit
