Albania safer with less criminal events in 2016: interior minister

Xinhua, January 4, 2017 Adjust font size:

Albania was safer during 2016, with less criminal events, Albanian Minister of Interior Sajmir Tahiri said at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to the minister, the state police received more phone calls in 2016, which led to the reduction of crimes.

He said it reflected the increasing public confidence in the police.

The minister also unveiled that Albanian police seized a huge amount of criminal properties and assets worth 47.6 million euro during 2016.

He said this figure proved that the state police was chasing after the "big fish," and pledged to continue the crackdown on crimes in 2017. Enditem
