Singapore stocks close 0.63 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 18.21 points, or 0.63 percent, to close at 2,898.97.

A total of 1.76 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 797.6 million Singapore dollars (550.26 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 242 to 158, while 687 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 8.39 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 2,880.76 on Dec. 30. Endit
