Slovenia receives 1,170 asylum requests

Slovenia has received 1,170 requests for international protection in the first 11 months of this year, local media reported.

The Slovenian authorities processed 942 requests and granted refugee status to 148 people.

Among asylum seekers were mostly Afghans, followed by Syrians, Iraqis, Pakistanis and Iranians, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported on Wednesday.

Official data also showed that the number of illegal border crossings into Slovenia for the first 11 months this year stood at 976, twice more than in 2015. Endit
