Albania receives more foreign tourists in Q3

The number of foreign tourists to Albania increased by 33 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2016 from a year ago, official data revealed on Thursday.

A total of 1.5 million foreign tourists visited Albania in the third quarter this year, according to national statistical office INSTAT.

Meanwhile, the number of tourists coming in day trips soared by 165 percent year on year in the third quarter, data showed.

The number of foreign people who traveled to Albania for business purposes saw an increase of 46 percent.

In the third quarter, the arrivals of foreign citizens by land accounted for 86.5 percent. While arrivals by air and sea accounted for 7.1 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively.

According to INSTAT, the number of citizens from Western European countries visiting Albania decreased by 16.5 percent, while the number of citizens from Southern European countries increased by 32.3 percent. Enditem
