Number of tourists in BiH up 11.4 pct year-on-year in Jan-Oct

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) received 1,008,815 tourists in the first 10 months of this year, an increase of 11.4 percent year-on-year, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to data published by BiH's Agency for Statistics, there were 2,106,091 overnight stays during the period, a 10.5 percent increase year-on-year.

In the overall number of recorded overnight stays, the percentage of domestic tourists was 29.5, whereas the percentage of foreign tourists was 70.5, according to the statistics agency.

Among the overnight stays of foreign tourists, tourists from Croatia made up the biggest group in the first 10 months (10.6 percent). They were followed by tourists from Turkey (8.4 percent), Serbia (8.0 percent), Italy (6.6 percent), Slovenia (5.7 percent) ,Poland (4.5 percent)and Germany(4.0 percent).

In terms of the length of stay, the first place was taken by tourists from Malta with an average stay of 5.6 nights, followed by tourists from South Africa with 3.9 nights, Ireland with 3.6 nights, Lithuania with 3.5 nights and Kuwait with 3.4 nights. Enditem
