Xinhua, December 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

More than 80,000 households in Albania received social assistance in the third quarter in 2016, the country's Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said on Wednesday.

More than half of them, or 41,001 households, received partial assistance while 39,324 families got full assistance.

Families entitled to full social assistance receive a monthly payment of 8,000 leks(61.68 U.S. dollars), while those having partial assistance receive half of the amount.

Families of four, which accounted for 30 percent of the households benefited from the country's social assistance scheme, are the largest group of beneficiaries. About half of such families, or 50.1 percent, receive full assistance.

Officials statistics also reveal the prefecture of Elbasan in central Albania has the largest number of households benefited from the social assistance scheme. One in five households benefited from the country's social assistance scheme is in Elbasan. Enditem
