Laos to select best boxers for int'l events

Xinhua, December 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Lao Boxing Federation is scheduled to hold the 11th national boxing competition for young male and female boxers from Friday to Sunday this week in capital Vientiane.

The boxing competition hopes to help select boxers in different categories, including the U14, U16, U17, U25, U26 and U30 divisions to compete in four different international events in neighboring countries in 2017.

After selecting the best boxers, the federation will continue to train them at the sports training center before they compete in the international events, reported local Vientiane Times on Thursday.

Boxers at the junior level will compete at the Boxing Championships of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Thailand in March 2017, while the youth level boxers will compete at the Asian Boxing Championship in Thailand in July 2017.

Laos will also compete at the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia in August 2017, and the Asian Women's Boxing Championships in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City in October 2017. Endit
