An international agricultural festival themed Mekong Delta will take place in Vietnam's southern Can Tho city from March 9-13 next year in Can Tho city, its organizers said Thursday.

Some 500 Vietnamese and foreign companies are expected to partake in the festival whose key activities include displays of agricultural products, meetings of scientists and entrepreneurs, and a conference on scientific and technological application in agricultural development.

Vietnam earned 2.1 billion U.S. dollars and 892 million U.S. dollars from exporting rice, and cassava and cassava-based products, respectively, in the first 11 months of this year, down 20.1 percent, and 25.2 percent against the same period last year, said its Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
