Cambodian parliament president satisfied with Sino-Cambodian ties

Xinhua, December 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cambodia's National Assembly president Samdech Heng Samrin on Wednesday reiterated his satisfaction with the excellent relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China, a spokesman said.

The Cambodian top legislator made the remarks during a meeting here with Wang Guosheng, vice chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China, said Keo Piseth, a spokesman for Samrin.

"Samdech (honorific title for Heng Samrin) expressed his satisfaction with the achievements that were born from the strategic relations and cooperation between China and Cambodia," he told reporters after the meeting.

He said the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Cambodia in October has added a new momentum to the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries.

Samrin said Cambodia and China are "honest and long-term" friends.

For his part, Wang said his visit to Cambodia aimed to contribute to deepening Sino-Cambodian relations and cooperation, particularly between the two legislative bodies.

Meanwhile, Wang also underscored the importance of the China-proposed Belt and Road initiative, saying the initiative would boost the economic development of countries along the routes and contribute to maintaining peace, stability and security in the region. Endit
