One third of Albanians say households better off in 2016

Xinhua, December 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

A third of Albanians believe that their household was better off in 2016 as compared to four years ago, and almost half are satisfied with their personal financial situation, local media reported Tuesday.

According to the latest survey of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), 27 percent and 30 percent of respondents believe that the economic and political situation in Albania respectively was better in 2016 than four years prior to the survey.

A total of 35 percent of Albanian respondents think that corruption levels here improved during the four years preceding the survey.

However, almost 20 percent of Albanians admit they made unofficial payments or gifts over the past 12 months to have access to public services.

Life satisfaction overall increased by 9 percentage points compared to 2010. Respondents aged 60 or above displayed the largest increase in life satisfaction with 19 percentage points, EBRD said in its report.

Some 1,500 Albanians were asked to give their opinions in the latest survey. Enditem
