Senior police officer murdered in Nigeria

A senior police officer had been murdered by unknown persons in southwest Nigeria's Ekiti State, police authority said Monday.

State police spokesperson Alberto Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident to reporters in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, said the officer's body was abandoned in a car in Ajebamidele area of the town.

Superintendent of Police Idowu Taiwo was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday night at a pub in Ado Ekiti. His body was found on Monday in a car in Ado Ekiti.

The motive for his murder is yet to be ascertained.

The police spokesperson told reporters that investigations have begun, and no arrest has yet been made. Endit
