British FTSE 100 edges up slightly Monday

British shares gained on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up slightly by 0.08 percent, or 5.52 points, to close at 7,017.16 points.

Shares of Hikma Pharmaceuticals rose 3.85 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips.

Reckitt Benckiser Group, Randgold Resources, Capita and Unilever gained 2.72 percent, 2.33 percent, 2.22 percent and 2.11 percent, respectively.

Ashtead Group led the top losers of the blue chips by shedding 4.78 percent. Standard Chartered lost by 2.82 percent, Barclays by 2.67 percent, and AstraZeneca by 2.22 percent. Endit
