Albania to adopt 27 draft laws till March 2017

Xinhua, December 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Albanian parliament has to adopt a package of 27 draft laws until next March, thus before the upcoming parliamentary elections which are scheduled for June 18, 2017, a majority MP told media here on Saturday.

The package consists of 27 draft laws which are aimed at creating the conditions for implementation of a broader justice system reform and they should be adopted by an Albanian parliamentary committee, sources from the parliament confirmed.

Meantime, Fatmir Xhafaj, head of the ad hoc parliamentary commission, explained to media that the package of 27 draft laws would enable the efficient functioning of the new justice institutions.

According to him, the voting of the constitutional package by all parties in July 2016 opened the way for the overhaul of the country's justice system, and the adoption of seven organic laws cleared the way for creation of new justice institutions.

Xhafaj also said that the proposed legislation was crucial as it will regulate functioning of the system and administration of justice. Endit
