Benin to ratify charter on improving public services

Xinhua, December 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Benin government is preparing to ratify the African Charter on Values and Principles of Public Service and Administration, according to an official statement on Saturday.

The draft of decree to that affect has been adopted and transmitted to the National Assembly for ratification authorization, the statement said.

"The ratification of the African Charter on Values and Principles of Public Service and Administration will enable Benin to integrate into the regional active commitment to new values of governance," it said.

Benin signed the Charter in January 2012 after it was adopted in January 31, 2011, by the conference of African Union's heads of state.

"The adoption of the Charter is an important step towards the achievement of the African Union program on shared values relating to governance," the statement said.

The Charter is designed to promote principles and moral values related to the activities of public agents so as to ensure transparent services provision. Endit
