Ireland's debt agency said on Thursday it completed an auction of Irish treasury bills, selling the target amount of 500 million euros (521 million U.S. dollars).

The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) said total bids received amounted to 1.331 billion euros, which was 2.66 times the amount on offer.

The bills, which have a maturity of 12 months, were sold at a yield of minus 0.42 percent.

In Ireland, the NTMA is responsible for borrowing on behalf of the government and managing the national debt.

On Tuesday, the debt agency said it will issue up to 13 billion euros of long-term bonds in 2017. (1 euro = 1.04 U.S. dollars) Endit
