Benzema scores as Real Madrid lead Club America 1-0 at first half

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Karim Benzema scored in the injury time to gift Real Madrid a 1-0 advantage over Club America from Mexico in the semifinal of FIFA Club World Cup here on Thursday.

Benzema's clinical finish past the keeper thanks to Toni Kroos' fine ball easily just before the half-time whistle.

Cristiano Ronaldo' s header hit the left post in the 26th minute.

Club America squandered the chance to take the lead as Rubens Sambueza hit the ball into the side net in the 30th minute.

Benzema sent the ball into the back of the net in the 35th minute but the goal was cancelled as he was in the offside position. Endit
