Fiji, Philippines exchange experience in technical education, skills development

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

A government delegation from Fiji has visited Philippines' Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to examine the Asian country's processes, programs, experiences and development plans in technical education and skills development, the Fijian government said Thursday.

Fijian Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate, who led the delegation, said the visit is vital to the Fijian government in making comparisons with the Philippines in the areas of technical education and skills development.

"The Philippines' TESDA shared their experiences in providing training in the transition from informal to formal economy, vocational training and forums, provision of training centers, community-based training, training of trainers and accreditation and competencies training," Usamate said.

The visit has enabled meaningful exchanges of ideas, processes and experiences in the vocational education and skills development aspect in relation to the work of Fiji's Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations in employment creation, promotion and skills development, the Fijian minister added.
