Germany's benchmark DAX index closed down on Wednesday

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday went down 39.81 points, or 0.35 percent, and closed at 11,244.84 points.

Caution reigned ahead of Fed's rate decision, German index DAX opened lower and got stuck within narrow range.

Sportswear giant Adidas dropped the most by 2.02 percent.

German media company ProSiebenSat.1 gained the most by 1.27 percent, followed by Henkel and Merck.

Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a volume of 263.41 million euros (280.37 million U.S. dollars). Endit
