Eurozone industrial production in Oct. disappoints

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Seasonally adjusted industrial production fell by 0.1 percent in the euro area and by 0.3 percent in the European Union in October 2016 month-on-month, according to figures unveiled Wednesday.

The disappointing October figures failed to match positive sentiment indicators and gave the eurozone economy a stumbling start to the final quarter of 2016.

This came after September saw a month-on-month industrial production decrease of 0.9 percent in the eurozone and 0.7 percent in the EU, the figures issued by the EU statistical agency Eurostat showed.

However, by annual comparison, the industrial production in October this year was still up, by 0.6 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU bloc. Endit
