An international cargo flight linking Xi'an in northwest China with Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has been launched early this week, according to the Xi'an municipal government Wednesday.
The cargo plane departs from Xi'an every Monday and Wednesday, carrying goods including clothes, LCD screens, and electronic products, while the return flight leaves Amsterdam every Tuesday and Thursday, transporting maternity and baby products, cosmetics and kitchenware to China.
The flight service started following the opening of three China-Europe freight trains this year from Xi'an to Warsaw, Hamburg, and Moscow, respectively, as part of the country's efforts to revive trade cooperation with Asian and European countries along the Silk Road.
Xi'an, known in ancient times as Chang'an, was a terminus of the Silk Road -- an ancient land trade route that ran through northwest China's Shaanxi, Gansu and Xinjiang, and Central and Western Asia, before reaching the Mediterranean. Endi
