Albania pockets 500 mln euros from tourism in summer 2016

Foreign tourists and visitors this summer have helped generate more than 500 million euros in revenue for Albania, official data revealed on Tuesday.

During the July-Sept. period, the peak of tourism season, foreign visitors spent 521 million euros (552 million U.S. dollars) in Albania, according to the data released by the Albanian central bank.

As a result, the revenues generated by tourism sector jumped 25 percent year on year in the July-Sept. period from a year ago.

In the first nine months, Albania's tourism sector generated 1.1 billion euros, an increase of 15 percent year on year. Endit
