Zurich building evacuated after suspicious object found: Swiss media

Xinhua, December 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least 50 people were forced to leave a business building in the Swiss town of Zurich after a suspicious object was found in its vicinity this morning, Swiss newspaper Tribune de Geneve reported Tuesday.

According to reports, the scientific branch of Zurich's municipal police managed to neutralize the object in question after having shut off the neighborhood in the morning.

While the exact number of evacuees is unclear, up to 100 people were reportedly compelled to vacate the building located in Zurich-Oerlikon, a quarter in northern parts of the Swiss city.

Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) reported that security forces gave the green-light to lift the large-scale blockade before noon.

The Swiss media also indicated that law enforcement had classified the object as "dangerous," with specialists carrying out further tests to determine its exact nature. Enditem
