Singapore PM sends congratulatory message to New Zealand's new PM

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has sent a congratulatory message to New Zealand's new Prime Minister Bill English, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a statement on Tuesday.

In the message, Lee said that he would like to warmly congratulate on the elevation of Bill English to the position.

He stressed that Singapore and New Zealand are natural partners with a convergence of strategic interests, sharing a deep and longstanding friendship.

"Our two countries enjoy multi-faceted cooperation, and have also worked well together at regional and international fora," Lee added.

The Singaporean prime minister noted that he looks forward to working with Bill English to further enhance the partnership between the two countries.

Bill English was sworn in as New Zealand's new prime minister on Monday after John Key announced his shock resignation. Endit
