The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has canceled his three-day state visit to Egypt amid increased pressure on his increased foreign trips in the wake of an economic crunch facing the southern African nation.

Lungu was scheduled to travel to Egypt this week after another three-day State visit to South Africa last week.

Lungu has made five trips in 30 days after winning the August 11 polls. He has been to Angola, Morocco, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritius and South Africa. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Five out of Zambia's 10 provinces suffered a power outage on Monday after a disturbance on the power system.

This is the second time the provinces are experiencing a power outage within a month. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government is in the process of reviewing regulations on driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs so that offenders could get stiffer punishment.

Last month, the government banned public vehicles from traveling at night as one way to reduce road traffic accidents. (Daily Nation)

-- Zambia's soccer governing body Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has replaced a player retention system of registration with contracts starting next season.

Under the old system, clubs could register for the new season players as long as the said players appeared on the club's retention list before they even signed a contract. (The Mast) Endit
