Armed robbers steal 70 kg of gold worth 2.5 mln euros: report

Four armed men attacked an armored van transporting gold and managed to loot 2.5 million euros (2.65 million U.S. dollars), local media reported Monday.

The robbers targeted a gold transporter in Dardilly commune in eastern France. They locked up the two security guards in the van before setting it on fire and escaping, the report said.

No one was injured during the attack. An operation is underway to arrest the perpetrators, it added. Endit
