Foreign teams are in Uganda ahead of the 2016 Africa Roll Ball Championship scheduled to start here on Dec. 9.

Peninah Kabenge, President of the International Roll Ball Federation told Xinhua on Thursday that they expect the event that will run up to Dec. 19 to be competitive since tough sides like Egypt will also take part.

The nations taking part in the tournament which will feature both the women and men's events include Egypt, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Guinea Bissau and hosts Uganda.

Hussien Ahamed, the president of the Roll Ball body in Egypt told Xinhua that his team is here to win and not just to participate.

"Although this is a new game, our players have been training well and are eager to perform," he said.

Uganda's coach Denis Mpoza said they will be hungry to win the titles as hosts.

"It is always good to host an event and retain the title. My players are ready for that," he added.

Early this year Uganda's men's team beat Kenya to win the East African Roll Ball Championship played in Nairobi while the Kenyan side lifted the women's title. Endit
