Xinhua, December 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

In the course of an investigation into terrorism, eight people were arrested after nine searches in Schaerbeek, Saint-Nicolas, Antwerp and Bruges, Belgian media reported Tuesday.

They are suspected of having recruited people to go to Syria, as well as having financially supported the Islamic State group, the federal prosecutor's office said Tuesday.

No weapons or explosives were found. The investigating judge will decide later on whether to prolong their detention, according to an official statement. Endit
