Belgian PM in Algiers to discuss security, economic cooperation

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel on Tuesday kicked off an official visit to Algeria to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of security and economy.
Michel was welcomed at the international airport of Algiers by his Algerian counterpart Abdelmalek Sellal, Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, as well as members of the government.
The Belgian PM told reporters that he is to meet top Algerian officials during his two-day visit, adding that boosting bilateral cooperation will be on top of the agenda.
"I will discuss with Algerian officials ways to strengthen security cooperation, including in the field of counter-terrorism, in addition to boosting economic partnership."
The two sides are also due to discuss international and regional issues of common interest, a statement of Algerian Prime Minister Office said on Monday. Endit
