Eight suspects arrested over alleged war crimes in BiH

Xinhua, December 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Eight suspects were arrested in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on Tuesday over alleged war crimes connected to the 1992-1995 war, local media reported.

The suspects were arrested in Prijedor, northwest of BiH. Police officers from State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) conducted the search and arrest operation in accordance with the order by the BiH prosecutor's office.

The men are suspected of crimes against humanity committed during a wide and systematic attack by Serb army, police and paramilitaries against Bosniaks and Croats in the Prijedor region at the start of the 1992-1995 war, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

Following the arrests, the police officers will hand over the suspects to the prosecutor who will question them and then make a decision on a motion for custody or prohibitive measures in accordance with the law, the statement said. Endit
