Zanzibar mulls Mauritius investment prospects

Xinhua, December 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tanzania's semi-autonomous Zanzibar archipelago on Tuesday called upon investors from Mauritius to establish their investments in the Indian Ocean Island, with a population of 1.3 million people.

Seif Ali Iddi, Zanzibar's Second Vice President said that the island has been blessed with good investment climate that attracts any investor to invest in it especially in the tourism and aviation sectors.

The Zanzibar leader made the call when speaking with the Minister of Arts and Culture from Mauritius, Santaram Baboo who was accompanied by a delegation of five officials from Mauritius.

Iddi described Mauritius as a good partner and had managed to move a big step forward in a short period of time in developing and promoting the tourism sector.

"The door is open for investors from Mauritius to eye Zanzibar for investment and cement our bilateral cooperation between the two islands," the official said.

"Such steps can generate revenue to Zanzibar and increase the number of tourists visiting the island due to its vast resources," said the minister.

The Mauritius minister pledged to encourage companies and other investors from Mauritius to invest in Zanzibar especially in the tourism sector. Endit
