European Vocational Skills Week opens

Xinhua, December 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The first European Vocational Skills Week organized by the European Commission opened on Monday with an aim to inspire people to pursue high-quality vocational training to adapt to the fast-changing labor market.

The Week running through Friday is one of the 10 key actions proposed by the Commission under the New Skills Agenda for Europe initiated in June.

The Commission proposes 10 actions to be taken forward over the next two years, including the "Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition" to support cooperation among education, employment and industry stakeholders, and a Skills Guarantee to help low-skilled adults acquire a minimum level of literacy, numeracy and digital skills and progress towards an upper secondary qualification.

It aims to finally achieve quality employment and entrepreneurial mind-set through continuous upskilling and re-skilling.

All stakeholders including students, parents, education providers, employers and public authorities are invited into the Week. Enditem
