German construction industry expects sustained boom: association

Xinhua, December 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The German construction industry is expecting a sustained boom for 2016 and 2017, chief of the Association of German Construction Industry said on Monday.

"For 2016, we expect a growth of five percent in the construction industry. Meanwhile, we expect a similar growth rate the next year," association president Peter Huebner was cited by German media n-tv as saying.

According to Huebner, construction of roads and residential properties are the major drivers of the growth rate in the construction sector.

"The growth in the housing construction will remain at a high level in the coming year, and an increase of up to 10 percent could be possible," Huebner noted, adding this means that more than 300,000 new apartments are expected to be built in 2017.

However, those newly built apartments still can not meet the needs, Huebner said. Endit
