Underage girls detained on suspicion of planning school attack in Finland

Xinhua, December 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three underage girls were detained on suspicion of planning a school attack in southern Finland, police said on Wednesday.

The Hame Police Department said that they received notification of a possible school related threat last week. The police carried out house searches and caught the three girls last Thursday.

The girls were suspected of planning an attack on a school in Riihimaki. The police did not found any weapons or explosives.

In an interview with Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat, police inspector Marko Makinen did not specify which school the girls planned to attack.

The WhatsApp messages spread among school children in Riihimaki said three schools were involved in the threat, but the police gave information to only one school, which in turn informed parents and pupils.

The police refused to disclose more information about the incident at this stage. Endit
