"Fantastic Beasts" tops Chinese box office

Warner Bros' "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" ruled the Chinese box office in the week ending November 27, China Film News reported Wednesday.

The fantasy and adventure film last week earned 283 million yuan (41 million U.S.dollars) after its release on November 25.

"I Am Not Madame Bovary," a domestic feature film, placed second with sales of 127 million yuan. Its total revenue has hit 333 million yuan since it debuted on November 18.

Disney's animated film "Moana" debuted last week to land in third place at the box office, grossing 85 million yuan.

Disney's "Doctor Strange" ranked fourth, raking in 43 million yuan last week. Its ticket sales have totalled 746 million yuan since hitting Chinese screens November 4.

Rounding out the top five was "Sky On Fire," a domestic action movie, which took 26 million yuan in the week. Endi
