34 militants killed in Afghan southern region: gov't

A total of 34 militants have been killed and 12 others injured during series of operations across the southern Kandahar, Helmand and Uruzgan provinces over the past 24 hours, a statement of army garrison stationed in the southern region released on Wednesday said.

According to the statement, the national army based in the southern region launched new operations codename "Attal" which means hero, on Tuesday would last until the militants are swept out from the southern region.

Taliban militants who have intensified activities and fighting the government forces in parts of the southern region, haven't commented. Endit
