Xinhua, November 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Up to 16 militants including a Taliban key commander Mullah Raihan were killed as government forces ambushed Taliban convoy in the eastern Gahzni province on Wednesday, provincial police chief Aminullah Omarkhil said.

"Acting on tipoff the security forces laid ambush in Aband district today morning killing 16 Taliban rebels including the notorious commander Mullah Raihan on the spot and injured five others," Omarkhil told reporters here.

The death of Mullah Raihan is a major setback to the Taliban fighting in Ghazni province, the police chief asserted.

No security personnel has been hurt in the attack, the official contended. Taliban militants are yet to make comment. Endit
