Eight Belgian ambassadors to promote sustainable development

Xinhua, November 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Eight organizations have been appointed as ambassadors of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Belgium, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Belgian foreign affairs ministry.

The organizations were chosen by the Federal Institute for Sustainable Development (FISD) of Belgium and the Belgian Sustainable Development Platform The Shift.

For one year, they will promote the objectives of the United Nations and encourage Belgians to achieve them. The FISD is responsible for the awareness campaign on SDGs in Belgium. In addition, the foreign affairs ministry supports SDGs around the world.

The SDGs, approved by world leaders in September 2015, serves as the blueprint for the global development efforts for the years leading up to 2030.

The eight ambassadors not only promote SDGs to the general public but also encourage personal contributions to achieving the goals. In addition, other organizations are also encouraged to take steps towards a more sustainable world by 2030. Endit
