Former general manager of China Southern Airlines stands trial

The trial of Si Xianmin, former general manager of China Southern Airlines, who was accused of accepting bribes, started Tuesday.
Prosecutors allege that Si took advantage of various work positions to seek business benefits for various groups and individuals, accepting bribes worth 7.89 million yuan (1.14 million U.S. dollars) either personally or through his son from 2005 to 2014.
The trial was held at the intermediate court of Shenzhen in southern China's Guangdong Province.
Si pleaded guilty to his crimes and expressed remorse during the trial. More than 50 people including lawmakers, political advisors, reporters and Si's relatives attended the trial.
