8 militants killed in air raids in S. Afghanistan

Up to eight Taliban militants, including a group commander, have been killed in air raids in southern Afghanistan, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

Aircraft pounded the militants' hideouts outside the Uruzgan's provincial capital Trinkot, 370 km southwest of Kabul, on Monday night, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

A Taliban group commander, Hajji Lala, along with seven of his men, was killed in the raids which also destroyed two weapon caches of the insurgents at the site.

Taliban militants have yet to make comments on the report. Endit
