Joint interview event for Chinese enterprises in Africa launched in Tanzania

Xinhua, November 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

A joint interview event named Chinese Enterprises in Africa is launched in Tanzania's commercial capital Dar es Salaam on Monday, in a bid to shed light on the fruitful achievements in China-Africa cooperation.

Organized by China's State Council Information Office, the event will include more than 40 reporters from China and Africa. During the 7-day event from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, the reporters will visit Chinese enterprises and academic institutions such as CRJE East Africa Limited and Sunshine Group in Tanzania and the Sino-Africa Joint Research Centre in Kenya.

According to the organizer, reporters' stories during the event will mainly focus on how Chinese enterprises are involved in Africa's development to benefit people's well-being and promote friendship.

Media cooperation is an important bridge for China and Africa to enhance mutual understanding and promote friendship, said Sun Zhijun, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at the launching ceremony.

Sun hopes that stories of Chinese enterprises in Africa will bring more Chinese investment to Africa, which will promote and strengthen economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa

He noted that over the years, under frameworks such as the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), media houses from China and Africa have carried out rich and fruitful exchanges and cooperation.

He also put forward a three-point proposal to deepen media cooperation between China and Africa, namely China and Africa should make joint efforts to compose a new chapter of China-Africa friendship, to expand space for media cooperation and to carve out new realm of China-Africa media development.

Tanzania's Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Nape Nnauye said that media is playing an important role in bridging the gaps between the people of Africa and China. Besides, media also has an important role to play in publicizing and promoting the investment opportunities in both China and Africa.

The Chinese media can work with African counterparts to consolidate the basis for cooperation, expand space for cooperation and broaden areas of cooperation to promote China-Africa media ties to a new level, he added.

Reporters joining the event are from media houses including China's People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Tanzania's TBC, The Guardian, Kenya's KBC and The Standard. Endit
