Xinhua, November 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed regional issues during a phone call on Monday, said Egypt's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abou Zeid.

Abou Zeid said in a press statement that both ministers addressed recent developments in the Middle East, especially in Syria.

They also discussed Egypt's efforts at the United Nations Security Council in attempting to reach an agreement among member states on managing Syrians' humanitarian suffering in war-stricken Aleppo, said Abou Zeid.

Besides Syria, Shoukry informed the Russian minister about Egypt's endeavors in Libya as well as the recent developments in Iraq and Yemen.

Bilateral relations and resuming suspended Russian flights to Egypt were also discussed, Abou Zeid added. Endit
