Swiss plane does U-turn after strange noise: media

Xinhua, November 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

The pilots of a Swiss International Airlines plane turned back a airplane shortly after take-off after hearing an alarming noice from the right side of the aircraft, Swiss local newspaper Tribune de Geneve reported Monday.

According to the newspaper, the noise sounded like an explosion and seemed to emanate from the plane's right engine.

This prompted the pilots to do an about-turn over Lake Constance and return to Zurich airport from where the plane had just taken off.

The plane, which was travelling from Zurich to Vienna, Austria, on Monday morning, was carrying 167 passengers.

The passengers were able to take another flight once they had landed safely back in the northern Swiss town, the newspaper reported.

An investigation will be opened to determine the causes behind the noise, it added. Endit
