China welcomes appointment of Zhao Hong to WTO dispute settlement body

China welcomes the World Trade Organization(WTO) dispute settlement body's appointment of Chinese national Zhao Hong as a new member, a commerce ministry spokesperson said Monday.

Zhao Hong was elected one of the seven members of the body on Nov. 23, along with newly-elected Kim Hyun-chong from the Republic of Korea, to join five others from the United States, Belgium, India, Mauritius and Mexico.

The dispute settlement body makes decisions on international trade disputes, adjudicated by the WTO.

Zhao Hong, a doctor of law, serves as deputy director of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, and worked for the commerce ministry from 1996 to 2015. Endi
