President of Portuguese state-owned bank resigns

Xinhua, November 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

President of Portuguese state-owned bank Caixa Geral de Depositos, Antonio Domingues, resigned on Sunday, the ministry of finance said in a statement.

Domingues will remain on duty until the end of December and the person to replace Domingues will be designated soon, the ministry of finance added.

Domingues' resignation comes amid talks to recapitalize the bank, which was agreed by Portugal and the European Commission in August. The bank is set to receive an injection of up to 2.7 billion euros (2.9 billion U.S. dollars).

However, the recapitalisation plan has been delayed since a recent court ruling said the bank's team must declare their income and assets. Endit
