A man is missing and hundreds of people were displaced in Northwest regions in Italy following bad weather, local media reported Friday.

The area was hit for more than 48 hours by heavy rain, which provoked floods, landslides and traffic disruptions.

A man in his 70s fell in a swollen river in Piedmont, while trying to save his horses, according to the reports.

Piedmont and Liguria regions are the worst hit. The neighboring Aosta Valley and Lombardy regions are also in alert.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said on Friday in Turin that emergency is not over yet, and the government would act immediately. Enditem
