Xinhua, November 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Lebanese army apprehended Friday a Islamic State (IS) high-profile member and 10 others in northeastern border town of Arsal, the army said in a statement.

Ahmad Youssef Ammoun, who had been previously arrested over charges of terrorist activities, were arrested in an "unprecedented quality security operation by the army," said the statement.

It added that the army raid the IS base following an armed clash in Wadi Al-Aranib of Arsal outskirts, with some detained members severely injured.

Ammoun is responsible for booby-trapped cars and suicide bombers in several Lebanese regions, including Beirut southern suburbs. Endit
