The following are highlights of leading Nigerian media outlets on Friday.

-- Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday said the ongoing process to amend the 1999 Constitution would be completed by January next year.

According to him, the National Assembly wants the Constitution to be amended before the election year. (Daily Trust)

-- The Nigerian Senate said Thursday it was tired of having appropriation bills passed into law without full implementation.

Noting that the problem is hindering development, Senate leader Bukola Saraki stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to halt the trend. (Vanguard)

-- The nation's foreign exchange reserves, the volume of money or other assets held by the Central Bank of Nigeria, a lender of last resort, which the government uses to offset its liabilities, have recorded an increase of 589 million U.S. dollars, after weeks of consistent and gradual gains, despite demand pressure.

The increase now brings the stock of reserves to 24.49 billion dollars, up from 23.91 billion dollars four weeks ago, representing a 2.5 percent rise. (The Guardian) Endit
